Reading Dialog
As more and more of us have begun to grow into "chapter books", I have become aware of the need to teach some lessons around how to read a "chapter book". One lesson was about how to read dialog or conversation in a longer book. So often authors don't use "he said" or "she said" after each person speaks and it can get rather confusing to keep track of who is talking. As you read with your child, you might stop every now and then to check and see if they know who said what. It takes a while to get that skill all figured out. Below are some photos of us working on this skill.

We used two different colors of highlighters to help us keep track of who was talking.
