Family Expedition: Case Study 2 ~ Families in China

We are well into our second case study about families in China. We are comparing the lives of families in China to the lives of our families (our first case study). We began the case study by looking at artifacts from China in our silent gallery walk. Then we did a little map work to compare China's location in the world with our location. Next we read a book called A Child's Day in a Chinese City to give us all some common background information for our study and created a chart with the things we noticed and were wondering about. Our latest activity had us reading articles in small groups. We became experts about the information in that article, created a poster and shared our learning with the whole crew. We took our jobs seriously because every child did not read every article. We had to teach the crew the information in our article. Below are some pictures of that process as it played out last week.

Our Learning on Display

When we debriefed our learning experience many students mentioned that they were nervous when doing their presentation. David summed it up best by saying, "I was nervous but I knew that I had to teach the crew what I learned so I just did it for them."
