Learning About Worms

We are learning so much about worms and finding the answers to so many of our questions. We are researching worms in books and on the internet and we are observing the worms in our worm farm when we are at the Wonder and Explore station. We are keeping a science journal with notes and drawings of the things we notice and observe. It is a whole crew journal so different students add to it on different days. Below is a sample page from the journal.

We are also keeping track of our learning on large concentric circle charts (pictured below). The inner circle shows the things we thought we knew about worms before we started studying them. The words in that circle are written in blue. The next circle has things that we had learned about midway through our study and is written in green. The final or outside section will be written in black and will show everything we have learned about worms during this study. These charts show our learning expanding throughout the study. It is great to be able to see how much we have learned.
