Math Explorations

Last Wednesday we did some math explorations. Two of the explorations were to help prepare us for our upcoming Geometry unit and included: making triangles fitting various requirements on geoboards and using pattern blocks to create a larger shape out of smaller shapes. The third exploration was an activity that helped us practice our basic addition facts. We used two beans and an egg carton with numbers written in the bottom of each section. We closed the carton, shook it up and opened it to see what numbers the beans landed on. Then we had to add those numbers together and check our answer with our partner. We had several cartons with a variety of numbers to either increase or decrease the challenge this game offered. This would be a fun game to make and play at home, too.

Homework ~ Read a good book or two. Check out a Bedtime Math story.
