Service Learning

This morning we went back to Bonaventure Senior Living Center for another visit. This time we each chose a book or two to read to a resident there. We practiced our reading so that we could read our books fluently. We also made a Thanksgiving decoration for the residents to hang up in their common area. It is a tree with fall leaves. On each leaf we each wrote something we were thankful for. It was another very rewarding experience. This crew is so sweet, kind and patient. Ask your child to tell you all about it.

Tweeting with Our Friends in Australia

Last week we learned how to use Twitter to tweet questions and comments to our friends in Australia. We are just getting started and hope to continue to do more in the future but we will see if this idea catches on with the crew. All of our tweets must be approved by a teacher before we can hit the "tweet" button (we want to be sure our audience can read our tweets - they don't have to be perfect just readable). Below is a sample of some of our tweets. Click here to see our crew Twitter page. Click on the pictures below to see a larger view.

Measuring with a Tape Measure

We are continuing to learn about the various ways to measure things. Today we learned that we could use a tape measure to measure things that aren't flat. We used tape measures to measure parts of our bodies: wrists, heads, waist, ankles, etc. It was tricky to hold the tape measure in place but we certainly enjoyed working at it.
