This and That

As you know, the last week or so has been very full of wonderful experiences for our crew. These experiences have filled our blog posts lately. Today I will share a few other random moments of learning that have been happening over the last week or so that haven't made the "cut" for blog posts while so many other exciting things have been going on.

We read about Chinese Checkers in a book and this made us curious so we wanted to learn more. We learned that this game is not really a Chinese game but was invented in Germany. Families in China do play Chinese Checkers sometimes, though. It is a great strategy game.

Reading Great Books from the Book Fair

One of the best parts of the Book Fair is that some of our crew members purchase books to donate to our crew library. We received some great books this year. Thanks to all who donated a book.

This is a former crew member who is now in 3rd grade but he still donates a book to our crew library every year.

Sharing Our Question and Answer Books

Today we shared the Question and Answer books that we wrote with Ms. Hanni's second grade class. Some of us we a little bit nervous about this but it went really well.

Joyous Chinese Cultural Center

We had a wonderful day of learning at the Joyous Chinese Cultural Center. We went to sessions on making dumplings, doing Kung Fu/Fan Dances, doing paper cutting and doing calligraphy. Check out the photos below to get a peek into how we spent our day.  Thanks so much to all of the chaperones who went along and were so helpful all day.

Thanksgiving Lunch

We had our annual Thanksgiving lunch today. It smelled so good in our hallways today. It was nice to see so many of you at lunch. Enjoy the photos below.

Book Fair Week

This week is the Book Fair at our school. The Book Fair will be open all week until Friday at about 1:00 pm. Students may shop before or after school with a parent, during their recess times or with a pass from a teacher during the day. Parents may stop by and shop anytime. Family Night at the Book Fair will be on Tuesday Night from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. We had a special time to visit the Book Fair this morning to browse and see all of the books that are there.

11/19 Pajama Day - part of the Book Fair festivities, students must wear regular shoes (especially our crew since we are climbing)

Guest Speaker

Today Brandon's dad, Mr. Mike, came to speak to our crew and Ms. Mary Beth's crew about the language of people in China. It was very interesting. Enjoy the photos below.

Our IA next week is PE. We will be climbing so be sure to dress appropriately (no dresses or skirts) and wear shoes that are good for cimbing.
