Question and Answer Books
In Writer's Workshop, we are currently working on Question and Answer books. These are nonfiction books that have a pattern of question/answer/question/answer. This is a good follow up to our study of pattern books because we can build on what we learned about writing books that have a pattern and expand that to a nonfiction genre. You can help your child choose a topic for their book or books. All of us are "experts" about something - Legos, ballet, horse back riding, drawing, Boy Scouts, Star Wars, pets, your family, losing teeth, etc. Talk to your child about all of the things that he or she is an "expert" about and how they could turn that passion into a Question and Answer book.
