You may have heard from your child that we will be publishing a book of our writing - through a company so it is very official. We decided to write a book about our favorite books that we can add to our classroom library for future first grade crews to read and learn about great books. We began writing drafts for our piece last week and will continue writing some this week, too. Each student is going to write 3 drafts and then choose the one that they would like to add to our crew book. The crew is so excited about this. They are working hard to do their best writing and to really explain why their chosen books is so good. We are also experimenting with different ways to start our pieces to make them interesting to our readers. After we have selected our piece and made it into a final version, we will draw an illustration to go along with it. We may ask for some volunteers to come in and sit with the kids one at a time to help them stay focused as they work on their final version. We will need for parents to sign a permission slip in order to be able to have the book published. More information about that will be coming soon. Below are a few examples of some of our drafts.
