Independent Reading

Every day we have an independent reading time. This is the time that we practice all of the reading skills that we have learned. If you were to come into our room during this time you might see a few students reading with a fourth grade buddy, a few students reading ebooks on their iPads, a few students conferring with Ms. Jill or reading with Ms. Wendy and a few students reading quietly at their desks. We change up who does which activity every day. This is a very important time of our day. We know that reading is fun and that it is important to read every day so that we will become better readers. Thankfully, we have lots and lots of books to read!

Group Pictures and Re-Takes are tomorrow. Please help your child remember his or her order form if they are ordering pictures. If they are getting pictures re-taken, they will need their old package of photographs or a new order form.

More New Stations

We frequently rotate materials in and out of the Build and Create Station and the Wonder and Explore Station. Currently in the Build and Create Station we have a marble tower building set and in the Wonder and Explore Station we have a variety of magnets. Both are proving to be fascinating as you can see in the pictures below. (You will need to go directly to the crew blog to see the video.) We have also added a buddy reading station, too.

Remember that we have library tomorrow. Please help your child remember to return their library books so that they can check out new books.

Math Assessment
We had a math assessment yesterday. Your child's assessment is in his or her homework folder today. Refer back to this post, More on Math Tests, for more information about how they are graded and what parts your child needs to master at this point (Only Part A) and how the tests are graded. Remember that I do read all parts of the test to the crew at this point in the year.
