Summer Learning

Some of you have asked for ideas of things to do over the summer to continue the learning and my top requests for summer learning would be to play, build and create, read, visit lots of great places and spend lots of time enjoying nature. Testing our soil samples to see how they filter "dirty" water. Dirty in this case means mixed with Kool-Aid.

We Are Readers

Some of us signed up to read our favorite books to the crew and then this quickly spread to all of the crew. We really are readers. My favorite part is after each story the reader would take 2 questions or comments and in many of the answers to these questions, the reader would talk about how they have always wanted to read out loud to the whole crew and now they can do it because they can read - I melt when I hear things like this. I also love to see just how much they love the books that they have picked out. My very favorite thing about this, though, is that when a reader got stuck on a word, they would look up at the crew and choose someone to come and help them. There was absolutely no judgement made about this and no embarrassment in asking for help. We have come a long, long way and we really are a crew.
