Phonics

We do a word work or phonics lesson every day (except for Wednesday). We will begin breaking into smaller groups for our phonics lessons this week - one group will work with Cate and one with me. A few things we have been working on include: works ending with "ng", words ending with "ck", words ending with "nk", words with an apostrophe (both possessive and contractions by crew request), and words with an r-controlled vowel which is also sometimes called a bossy r. We do a short lesson together as a whole crew and then we break out into individual work time where we hunt for these words in the books we are reading. We read them and then add them to a list in our notebooks and/or a chart on the wall. The crew loves to hunt for words!
