We did a counting collections math lesson on Wednesday. We worked with a partner to count a collection that had a large number of items. We had to share how we counted them and what strategies we used to be sure we counted accurately and efficiently.
During our drum circle we did some experiments with sound vibrations. We put a drum in the center of our drum circle with a paper clip on top and watched it bounce from the vibrations from our drum circle. We also experimented with a penny on top of a drum, too. While we were drumming, we took turns laying our hand on our drum to feel the vibrations while the rest of the drums were being played. Finally, we took turns laying down in the center of the drum circle to feel the vibrations from the drum circle in our bodies.
We experimented with some xylophones we borrowed from Mr. Josh. We learned lots of things about how the sound is impacted by the size of the slats, what the slats are made of and what the mallets are made of. We all had lots of theories and came up with ways to test our theories.
We were word builders during one of our phonics lessons. We used connecting cubes with words parts on them to build a wide variety of words.
