We begin our math workshop with a math routine. Math routines are quick, engaging, fun math activities designed to help students develop number sense and the ability to discuss math concepts in a large group. We move into a mini-lesson followed by activities and games to practice what we learned in the lesson. We also have math activities during our Exploration Stations. We add games that we have learned to the math station so that we can choose one of the games to play to continue to practice our skills.
Below are some photos of us playing math games or doing math activities.
| Playing Bump. There are several versions of this game. So far we have learned to play the one more and one less versions. |
| Trying to figure out a good strategy to count a collection with a large number of items. |
